GET INVOLVED

Women's Work is a multi-media art project honoring the women of Red Hook. It's being organized as part of the 19th Annual Red Hook Fest. To get involved:

1. Send a photo of a woman who has had an impact on your life and a few sentences about why she is someone you want to acknowledge to Festival Producer kamau ware. It could be a graduation portrait, a cellphone pic, an old family snapshot- anything that represents the woman you want to honor.

Your photo will appear on the Women's Work tumblr and in a Red Hook Fest opening night slideshow, celebrating each woman in front of the community.

2. Attend a pre-Festival workshop in photography or poetry, where you'll create original art under the guidance of master professional artists.

3. Attend the Red Hook Fest. Friday, June 1st the Festival will open with a celebration of the women chosen for Women's Work. Community members will share poems about special women in their lives, while we project a slideshow of the images gathered during the project. On Saturday, volunteers will go throughout the Festival grounds, recording stories to create a living history of the women of Red Hook.
