Katya Schapiro
Managing Director
Katya Schapiro is an actor,
director, writer, teacher, dramaturg, and manager/producer. Katya comes
to DTE from Brooklyn Arts Exchange, where she has been serving as
Interim Operations Manager. She has also worked at The Flea Theater.
Katya is a producing company member of Polybe + Seats theater company.
Katya conceived and co-produces Polybe's SpeakEasy series, at which she
has performed and directed, and Play Group first reading evenings.
Katya’s first full length play, Better Angels, had a short run at the
Bushwick Starr in October 2007, and will be returning for a longer run
in the Fall of 2008, directed by Shira Milikowsky. Katya is a graduate
of Barnard College, and has trained with Vernice Miller of ALAT and at
Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA.
